Rebecca Dolgin

Rebecca is currently a PhD student at The New School for Social Research. She uses mixed-method approaches to study how people evaluate and interpret information when context is limited. She is particularly interested in the ways public discourse, including social media, is understood and the consequences of misunderstanding.

Simone Calbi

PhD Student

Simone Calbi is a PhD student in Psychology at The New School for Social Research. Her research focus is centered on how different modes of technologically-mediated communication including technology, audio, voice and multilingualism mediate shape relationships as well as impact shared understanding. As a member of the Language and Interaction lab, she studies dialogue systems in human-computer interaction, focusing in particular on ways AI-assistive technology enables or inhibits trust and engagement in crisis settings.

Ali Bebry

Ali Bebry (she/her) is an incoming PhD candidate in Clinical Psychology researching the cognitive processes behind uses of music for communication with a background in counseling psychology and contemporary music. She is especially interested in music as therapeutic discourse as well as the shared understanding between parties in synchronous listening experiences.
